Baichung not playing? Who cares? Amir, Saif hai na!!!

Everything is filmy in India. Even Olympic is.

Olympic is an event that unites the sportsperson and athletes from all across the globe in one place. But when it comes to India, more than the sports, its Bollywood that speaks louder. When all countries bestow the rarest honor to carry the Olympic Torch on the shoulders of their celebrated sportsperson, it’s film actors in India who get that privilege. This year the honor is showered on two popular Hindi movie stars – Amir Khan and Saif Ali Khan. Mikhail Singh will ALSO join them while taking a walk in the rajpath of Delhi.

Recently, Baichung Bhutia announced that he wont carry the Olympic Torch following the Tibet issue. But is there anyone bothered? Both media and public are concerned what Amir Khan and Saif Khan has to say on this issue. They don’t disappoint us; both have their own SAY over the matter. So, please don’t mind over the fatuous comment they make, because it’s Bollywood who seems to be only one to bring bread-butter to the media. So there comes a report on torch carrying issue for Olympic 2008 with images of two film-stars in their vests flexing their muscle giving a killer look.

Probably this explains the focus of a nation and also the fact that why its national game cannot even qualify to enter the Olympics.

Why do you think we should may heed to what some Baichung Bhutia has to say on the Tibet issue? Is an international audience even aware of the fact that India plays soccer? No I guess, when you proudly sit on 123 world ranking. The cricket team is taking a hammering. So the next obvious choice is Bollywood, which has atleast some international presence. Just wait for the day when India organizes the Olympics (I dare say this), and grandsons of Salman and Saif are sure to oblige the world audience by setting the Olympic Flame ablaze at the cauldron. Fortunately, I will not be alive by that time... :)

hummm, ok. lets think why we dwell on the film stars so much?
I think its have to do much with our history and present culture.
Indians have long been off the the "happening world" map. like Greece, Indians today have to be proud with our 'heritage' (which I personally think, is like sitting in a loin cloth in an ancestral palace). Or so it had been until some years back, after that IT boom! and everything changed. India is again becoming booming industry, and globally discussed nation.
Now we have IT, we have Nukes, we have cricket and we have Bollywood!
But the problem is cricket is not allowed in Olympics, and the cricketers are too busy making money either by ads or T20 cricket. Nukes are not a very good thing to portray in Olympics, and just imagine how the IT guys will look running with the torch, well the few remaining good one (the best are already overseas).
So that leaves only the film stars. sexy cool happening, they are tailor-made everything. So give them a chance to go! SIMPOOL.

And above all, we Indians have been so badly beaten for eons in almost every sector, we love to live in a make-believe world, where every thing ultimately falls in the right place. that's why, Bollywood stars are the heroes of "Janta". In 1970's Whenever they felt lost, went to a movie hall see to Amitabh beat the hell out of Ranjeet and they were happy.... sei tradition somaane cholchhe!

Hmmm...here comes something that I know but just dont want to acknowledge.

Dhasu Pagla, the entire purpose of this write-up was to generate this basic idea that in india the definition of 'entertainment' has slowly merged with 'bollywood'.... In the long run it will definitely ruin the culture of our country.

Indian entertainment = Bollywood = Hollywood.

Where does the name bollywood come from? Tollywood? Kollywood? Jolly good!

Seems we can't even spend some free time without the help of america. "Bharot abar jogot sobhay shreshtho ason lobe"? Yes of course. Oi mejhete ason pete bosa-i hobe, godi pabe na! Frankly, we need China to start the third world war, beginning by pounding us!
